There are three Terminals at Julius Nyerere International Airport which offer travellers a range of check-in options. Terminal I is for general aviation (Scheduled and chartered flights) within the country; Terminal II is for local flights and Terminal III is for international flights.
The check-in procedure at Terminal I is simple and fast. You can arrive at the check-in counter 60 minutes before your flight.
If you are travelling via Terminal II (local flights) you need to arrive at the check-in counter 2 hours before your flight if you have checked-in baggage and 1 hour before your flight if you do not have checked-in baggage.
Passengers travelling via Terminal III (international flights) are required to arrive at the check-in counter 3 hours before their flight if they have baggage to be checked in; 2 hours before their flight if they do not have baggage to check-in baggage and 1 hour before their flight if they have checked in online and already have a boarding pass. Terminal III also offers self-check-in facilities for convenient check-ins.
To ensure a smooth experience during departure make sure you have all your travel documents with you. These include a valid passport, a print out of your air ticket or evidence of an electronic ticket, and any necessary Visas required at all your countries of destination. It is advisable to arrive early to allow sufficient time for check-in.
When you get to your assigned check-in counter, present your air ticket and passport and place your baggage (except your carry bag) on the weighing scale. The airline staff in attendance will give you a boarding pass and stick your baggage receipt at the back of your ticket.
