TRANSIT PASSENGERS GUIDE
In aviation, transit passengers are defined as passengers who will be in an airport for less than 24 hours before they board their connecting flight to their final destination. There are four types of transit passengers: those connecting from one domestic airline to another, those connecting from a domestic airline to an international airline, those connecting from an international airline to a domestic airline; and those connecting from one international airline to another international airline. If transit is made through the same airline, the whole process is handled by the airline. Transit flights can also be made through different airlines. In such cases, it is necessary to check the baggage policy of the respective airline. There are also inter-line baggage agreements between airlines. If there are no such agreements, passengers will be responsible for check-in and baggage delivery during the transit.
Julius Nyerere International Airport is ready to make your connecting journey pleasant and hassle-free. We have made the process simple to ensure that every passenger who goes through JNIA has a smooth travelling experience.
