Swissport Tanzania Plc. (Swissport Tanzania) a subsidiary of Swissport International Ltd, is a leading ground and cargo handling services provider in Tanzania. The Company operates at Julius Nyerere and Kilimanjaro International Airports with its head office located at the first floor of Swissport Freight Terminal at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA).
Swissport Tanzania, then known as Dar es Salaam Airport Handling Company (DAHACO) started its operations at Julius Nyerere International Airport on 1st October 1985 and extended its operations to Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) in October 1990.
Swissport International Ltd. acquired 51% of Swissport Tanzania (the then DAHACO) shares in year 2000 to become the majority shareholder of Swissport Tanzania. The remaining 49% of the Company shares are held by public through Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE).
CERTIFICATIONS
2001 Swissport became a Quality Management System (QMS) under ISO 9001 certified.
2008 Swissport became Environmental Management System (EMS) certified.
2015 Swissport became ISAGO certified.
2020 Swissport became RA3 certified at JNIA.
MILESTONES
1985 Dar Es Salaam Airport Handling Company (DAHACO) was established and started operations at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JINA).
1990 Swissport Tanzania extended operations to Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) as part of its expansion program.
1993 Swissport implemented for the first time a Computerized Departure
Control System (CODECO) for passenger and luggage check-in.
1996 Swissport International AG is incorporated in August 1996 in Switzerland.
1998 Swissport constructed and launched Perishable Handling Facility at KIA.
2000 Swissport changed name from Dar es Salaam Airport Handling Company Ltd to Dar es Salaam Airports Handling Company Ltd (DAHACO).
Swissport acquires 51% of Dar Es Salaam Airport Handling Company (DAHACO) shares, adding Tanzania to its global network.
Swissport implemented for the first time Electronic Accounting Processing System (ACCPAC).
First phase of the privatization of DAHACO begun. Swissport International Ltd. acquired 51% of Swissport Tanzania shares.
2003 The second phase of the privatization of DAHACO was completed. 49% of DAHACO shares owned by the government were sold to public through Dar es Salaam stock exchange (DSE). The Company became listed on DSE.
2005 Swissport Tanzania changed name from Dar es Salaam Airports Handling Company (DAHACO) to Swissport Tanzania Ltd.
2011 Swissport started the construction of phase 1 of the Perishable Handling Facility at JNIA.
2012 Swissport established a Training center.
2013 Swissport Tanzania started operations at Mtwara and Songwe Airports.
Swissport Tanzania changed name from Swissport Tanzania Ltd to Swissport Tanzania Plc.
2016 Swissport launched a state-of-the-art import warehouse at JNIA.
2019 Swissport Tanzania closed its operations at Songwe and Mtwara airports.
